A week in England

From June 19 to June 26, 2015, 42 third year students with three teachers of the NMS Sattledt spent a week in England.

In London  we spent two nights at a hotel in Crystal Palace. On Saturday, after breakfast, we took a train to Victoria station and then we went on a bus ride along Hyde Park and down Oxford Street. We continued walking to Piccadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square, to the Houses of Parliament and past Westminster Abbey to Buckingham Palace. After a lunch break and some shopping at Leicester Square we went to Madame Tussaud’s wax museum. In the evening we were really tired.

On Sunday we took a train to London Bridge station. We walked along the River Thames and we saw Tower Bridge when it opened!
Outside the Tower of London there was a celebration: 200 years before the Duke of Wellington had won the Battle of Waterloo against Napoleon. We had to wait to get into the Tower. Inside there was a long queue to see the Crown Jewels. We did not have so much time, so we went into the White Tower to see the weapons and armour.

At 15:30 a coach picked us up at the hotel and took us to Barnstaple in North Devon. There we met our host families and went to a language school for four days. In the afternoons we went on excursions to the beaches and the fishing villages of Lynmouth and Ilfracombe.

On our last day we had a bowling competition and a treasure hunt in Barnstaple.

It was a really great week, for students and teachers alike.
